Authors
Abstract:
Objectives: The present study was conducted with the aim of determining the effectiveness of cognitive therapy based on mindfulness on cognitive regulation of emotions, severity of psychosomatic symptoms of migraine and stress coping styles among women with migraine Materials and methods: This research was carried out in the form of a semi-experimental research design with a pre-test and post-test with a control group. The statistical population of this research consisted of all female patients suffering from migraine who referred to neurologists in Khorram Abad city in 1401. The sample size of 32 female patients with migraine were selected by available sampling method. Then they were randomly replaced in two experimental (16 people) and control (16 people) groups. Garnevsky's (2001) cognitive emotion regulation questionnaires, Najarian's psycho-physical symptoms of migraine (1376) and Billings and Moss's (1981) stress coping styles were used to collect information. Cognitive therapy intervention based on mindfulness was performed in the experimental group in the form of one session per week for 8 consecutive weeks. Findings: The research data were analyzed by analysis of covariance test. The results of covariance analysis showed that cognitive therapy intervention based on mindfulness at the level (P<01, F=14.406) on the cognitive regulation of emotion, severity of migraine psychosomatic symptoms and stress coping styles of female patients with Migraine has had a significant effect on at least one of the variables. Also, the results of univariate covariance analysis showed that cognitive therapy based on mindfulness on the level (p<0.01, (F=60.7 on cognitive regulation of emotion and on the level) p<0.01, F=53.46) on the severity of migraine psychosomatic symptoms and on the level (p<0.03, F=18.5) had a significant effect on stress coping styles in the post-test stage. Conclusion: Cognitive therapy intervention based on mindfulness is effective in increasing the cognitive regulation of emotions and reducing the intensity of psycho-physical symptoms of migraine and stress coping styles of female patients with migraine. Based on this, in the process of the effectiveness of the cognitive therapy program based on mindfulness on reducing the avoidance of escaping unpleasant experiences caused by migraine disease, it can be said that in this method, people learn how to use cognitive methods and mental meditations. Consciously use to stop the automatic processes that often cause a deficiency in positive emotion regulation, the intensity of the psychosomatic symptoms of migraine, and adaptive stress coping styles.
